The Minidoka County Joint School District board approved a package of policy updates Aug. 18, approving items submitted as policies 1–11 in the board packet. The motion to approve policies 1–11 was made by Trustee Claridge and seconded by Trustee Kent; the motion carried without recorded dissent.
The approved policies listed in the packet include Open Enrollment (302.00), School Age Entrance/Placement/Transfer (310.00), Student Use of Personal Electronic Devices procedure (362.00P), Student Immunizations (386.20), Criminal History Checks for employees and volunteers (510.50), Student Transportation (800.00), Bus Loading Discipline (802.00), Vehicle Idling (804.00), Bus Driver Training (805.00) and Evacuation Instruction and Drills (807.00). The packet indicates these were presented as first readings where applicable; the board moved them forward by formal approval. Policy 810.00 (District Owned Vehicles) was held for a third reading and will return to the board for final action at a later meeting.
Board members did not expand on every policy in the public minutes; the motions indicate trustees considered the packet and voted to approve the set as presented. The approvals update the District’s policy manual on areas that govern student safety, staff hiring background checks, and transportation operations.
Documents in the meeting packet show adoption/amendment dates for several policies and cross-references to statutory requirements; the board did not take additional separate votes on curriculum items in the packet during this session.
