Highway Superintendent Billy Sutphin told the Milford Town Board the highway crew will be sweeping roads and cutting trees during the coming week. Sutphin also reported that the state CHIPS (Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program) budget has not been finalized, leaving some uncertainty about state reimbursement levels.
Sutphin said he will begin ordering product for the sides of the roads (materials for shoulders) in anticipation of summer work. The board did not change any highway appropriations at the April 16 meeting; Sutphin's report was informational and aimed at preparing operations for the season.
