Milford schedules May 21 public hearing on proposed zoning ordinance amendments

Town Attorney E. Hyde Clark explained the legal process: the board can accept Planning Board recommendations at an open meeting, vote to set a public hearing, draft the amendments as a local law, and refer the package to county planning before final adoption. Clark said that because the recommendations originated with the Planning Board, no further Planning Board referral for comments is required.
The public hearing will allow residents to comment before any local law is finalized. The board did not take final action on the ordinance at the April 16 meeting; instead, it set the hearing date and directed the procedural steps described by the town attorney. The hearing is scheduled for May 21, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Town Hall.
