Public works delay at West Station; Oakland roadwork planned and Friends of Cedar Lake report good water quality

A new pump has been received and will be installed once weather conditions improve." Superintendent of Streets Ryan Horton described an Oakland road project that will use lane shifts and staged concrete repairs to address settlement where concrete meets asphalt; work is expected early to mid‑March with traffic maintained in both directions and lane‑by‑lane staging that may take one to two weeks per lane.
A representative of Friends of Cedar Lake said the group will launch a simple informational website to share meeting minutes, events and lake-monitoring results. The group monitors lake water quality March through October and reported that last year’s results ranked Cedar Lake among the healthiest lakes, with noted improvements in phosphorus levels. The friends emphasized that their monitoring focuses on overall ecological health and is separate from Health Department beach testing.
