Lanark council hears committee reports: holiday-lighting grant, utility payment plans, police and maintenance updates

A set of standing-committee and staff reports filled the latter portion of the meeting. Alderperson Alisha Metz said Old Settlers Days was well attended and maintenance recommended shifting new playground equipment about two feet to allow adequate space. The committee also discussed an available ComEd holiday-lighting grant of up to $2,500 to expand seasonal lighting around City Hall and the Heritage Center.
Alderperson Brad Knutti said the Water and Sewer committee will meet to consider policy changes after noting a growing number of repeat customers using utility payment plans. Alderperson Justin Rausch said the final pricing for weekly garbage and recycling collection was received and the revised bid package will be distributed. City Attorney Ed Mitchell recommended moving the annual tax-levy approval to August; he also reported on an upcoming barking-dog ordinance hearing. Chief Troy Randall reported Officer Zach has an upcoming medical appointment and the police department is implementing a new e-ticketing system and has ordered a new squad vehicle. Maintenance Manager Jason Alvarado said crews are completing asphalt patching and will inspect Heritage Center door locks; Clerk Marilyn Heller reminded members to confirm attendance for the Illinois Municipal League conference.
