Lanark awards 2026 chip-and-seal contract to Helm Contracting for $54,500

Fehr Graham engineer Darin Stykel reviewed the list of streets included in the 2026 chip-and-seal project and explained prior pavement bleed-through problems and the plan to use a new polymer-based oil and fog seal to improve durability. The council heard that Helm Contracting submitted the only bid and that the bid was close to the engineer’s estimate.
A motion by Alderperson Brad Knutti, seconded by Alderperson Mark Macomber, awarded the 2026 Chip Seal Project to Helm Contracting for $54,500. The motion carried 5–0. Work is scheduled ahead of other park improvements to coordinate construction, and staff will manage contractor notifications to impacted property owners.
