The board carried the resolution by roll call—Aye: McNally, Dubay, LaBar, Fish; Nay: none (4-0).
Supervisor Stephen McNally noted the Youth Commission—led by Jess West, Nellie Halloran and Katy Smith—will assist with interviewing counselors and that lifeguard certification will be mandatory. The board discussed options for splitting counselor schedules to allow short-term employment; the supervisor reported there are 10 applicants for six counselor positions and suggested offering shorter, staggered assignments so more applicants can work.
The hires are funded from the Youth Program account lines authorized by the town budget. The town did not state a separate effective date beyond the summer season; the resolution does not include an employment contract in the minutes.
