Public Works Supervisor Jim Bowles told trustees that a water main break had been identified and is being addressed by the department. Village Administrator Mike Strong said the village issued an RFP for an erosion‑investigation feasibility study to six to seven qualified firms; proposals are due the first week of March and will be brought to the board for review. Recruitment of candidates for open positions is underway and applicants are being screened.
Superintendent of Streets Ryan Horton described the Avenue‑to‑Route‑59 project scope (crack filling, curb repairs and related maintenance) and noted the guardrail at the end of Cedar Lake Road has been struck multiple times and is currently missing; the police chief indicated support for replacement and the county has confirmed the guardrail location and is reviewing requests including a flashing stop sign. The project is in the 2026 design phase so these safety improvements may still be considered for this construction year.
