Tiverton officials announced a public meeting on PFAS testing and results to be held next Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the high school. Administrator Jones said staff from the Department of Environmental Management (DEM) and the Rhode Island Department of Health (DOH) will present maps, test data and be available for questions.
"We're finalizing the community meeting, which will be next Wednesday at 05:30 to 7 at the high school," Administrator Jones said. He described an exhibit format before a main auditorium presentation and said the experts would remain afterward for one‑on‑one questions. "If you can't make it, it'll be recorded," Jones added.
Jones told the council DEM has supplied a list of residents the agency had not yet reached; the town asked the police department to visit roughly 21 households to ensure contact. "DEM went and did physical door knocks to folks in this impacted area," Jones said, and the town has followed up to get everyone notified.
Officials said the meeting will include both a map of the tested area and backup information from DEM and DOH; residents and councilors pressed for clarity on where positive samples were found and how the map would display ranges rather than house‑by‑house labels.
The announcement followed earlier council action to start engineering and modeling work for a waterline extension to address affected households.
