Teachers and school leader report trouble obtaining IEPs and CUM folders; board to follow up

Courtney Johnson, an assistant principal at Putnam Classical Academy, told the board she and other staff have repeatedly received digitized printouts from the district that lack IEPs and accommodation documentation. "We do use scribbles to request records ... we've been receiving the digitized printouts, but we do not have IEPs, and we do not have the accommodations," Johnson said, asking how her school could best obtain complete CUM folders and IEPs in time for the coming school year.
District staff responded that school staff would contact Johnson to resolve the requests and that the district would review its procedures to ensure parents and receiving schools are afforded their rights under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The board asked staff to follow up with both the school leader and the parents who reported denials of access.
The exchange occurred during public comment following a related presentation about district processes. The board did not take immediate formal action but directed staff to reach out to the speakers to facilitate records transfer and confirm any missing documents.
