Minoa trustees approve CDBG application and SEQRA negative declaration for East Avenue sidewalk

Deputy Mayor John H. The project proposal calls for increasing the sidewalk width from 4 feet to 5 feet and installing approximately 820 linear feet of sidewalk — roughly 4,100 square feet — to improve accessibility for residents who use walking devices or motorized mobility equipment.
With no public comments offered, Trustee J. Robert (Bobby) Schepp moved to adopt a resolution that (1) accepted lead agency status for SEQRA review, (2) treated the action as either Type II or an unlisted action, and (3) issued a Negative Declaration finding no significant environmental impact. Trustee Eric S. Christensen seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously to adopt the resolution and to authorize the Mayor or Clerk to complete and submit Part I of the EAF and the 2026 CDBG funding application.
Why it matters: the CDBG-funded sidewalk and the board’s Five-Year Sidewalk Plan together target pedestrian safety and accessibility improvements in the village’s residential core, with the East Avenue segment prioritized for immediate grant funding.
