The Jacksonville School District 117 Board of Education met in special session on Aug. 13, 2025, and heard Chief Financial Officer Rick Cunningham present the proposed fiscal year 2026 budget. Cunningham’s presentation compared FY25 unaudited and FY26 projected figures and showed a $6,323,127 projected deficit in the Education Fund, a $363,383 projected deficit in Operations & Maintenance, and a $2,870,000 projected deficit in Capital Projects. The FY26 summary in the packet lists projected ending balances, for example an Education Fund ending balance of $25,084,494.
Board members approved the meeting agenda at the start of the session (motion by Mrs. Wilson, second by Mr. Lonergan; Yeas: Wilson, Lonergan, Leonard, Pool, Stewart, Trace, Beard). President Beard opened the floor for public comment and received none. The special meeting concluded with a unanimous motion to adjourn at 6:23 p.m. (motion by Mrs. Wilson, second by Mr. Lonergan). The board packet and slide materials referenced the district website, www.jsdl17.org, for additional documents. No vote to adopt the FY26 budget was recorded during this special session; the presentation was recorded as a proposal for board review.
