Cindy Sherman, Butte-Silver Bow Clerk & Recorder, told the council on July 15 that the coroner resigned and state law requires a 10-day filing period to allow candidates to file to run for the vacancy. "This is a requirement by law because our Coroner resigned from this position," Sherman said, explaining that filings will open July 20 at 8:00 a.m. and close July 29 at 5:00 p.m.
Commissioner O'Leary moved to concur and place the communication on file; the motion was seconded and recorded as passing 10 yea 0 nay. The Clerk & Recorder's office will accept filings in the specified period to place names on the ballot for the vacancy.
