Cortland approves emergency repairs to Well #4 after output falls almost in half

The Town of Cortland approved emergency repairs for Well #4 on June 8, authorizing a proposal from Albrecht Well Drilling, Inc. priced at $108,338 and not to exceed $150,000 from budget line 07-7400-243.
Public Works Director Joel Summerhill explained the urgency: "The well is supposed to pump 600 gallons per minute but is currently only pumping 330 gallons per minute." He said the pipe was installed in 2008 and typical life expectancy for infrastructure of this size is 7–9 years; he recommended proceeding now to avoid a full failure. Trustee Stone recommended Albrecht as a capable contractor. The roll-call vote was unanimous in favor.
The board recorded the approved not-to-exceed authorization and directed Public Works to oversee repairs and report back as required by budget reporting procedures.
