Christin Keeffer told trustees about a recent case in which two people operated a vehicle that was not theirs and that vehicle was towed and impounded. Keeffer said the Village currently lacks a police administrative fee ordinance that would allow assessing a recovery fee (commonly $350–$500) and an impound hearing.
Trustees discussed options including adopting a local code or piggybacking county procedures because Lena’s low tow volume may not justify running its own impound administrative process. Attorney Tom Green and Chief Lamphere said they will review legal options and implement a proposal for a future meeting if appropriate.
