The Village of Lena board on Oct. 13 unanimously approved hiring Jonathan Beryl Stoltz as a Village police officer, a move trustees said will provide full-time coverage with four full-time officers. Dean Rood made the motion to hire Stoltz; Brandon Smith seconded it, and the motion passed with all trustees voting Aye.
Christin Keeffer outlined Stoltz’s qualifications during the discussion and framed the hire as enabling Chief Lamphere to “work only 5 days a week and to focus more on administrative detail.” Trustees said the additional officer will help maintain patrol coverage as scheduling and responsibilities shift. The board recorded the hiring motion as an appointment and did not take further personnel action in open session.
