Students, coaches and staff honored at Lemont HSD 210 board meeting

The board recognized Students of the Month, athletic coaches of the year and academic achievements including a perfect 36 ACT and National Merit distinctions during its Nov. 17 meeting.
The board honored four Students of the Month — Taylor Thorsness, Charlie Brandt, Edvin Morochin and Lily Crowther — and recorded a donation pledge from Lemont businessman Brad Grcevic of Edward Jones to benefit the American Cancer Society on behalf of the students. Director of Athletics Mike Sommerfeld recognized coaches and athletes for conference honors and IHSA state-level qualifications.
Principal Eric Michaelsen highlighted academic recognitions including Kinga Strzalka's perfect 36 ACT and National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist status; multiple students were named Commended Students and AP Scholars with Distinction. The marching band was noted as a finalist at the 2025 Illinois State Marching Band Championships.
