The Moira Town Board on Jan. 14 adopted Resolution #50-2025 declaring a roughly 5-acre parcel off Conservation Road (Tax Map Parcel #164.-2-5, Town of Dickinson) surplus and authorizing its sale by open competitive sealed bid with a minimum starting bid equal to the Assessor's market value estimate of $5,075.
The resolution, which cites New York State Town Law §64(2), directs the Town Clerk to publish notice to allow a permissive referendum and authorizes the Town Supervisor to sign the deed and related documents for the highest responsible bidder. The resolution also states that the awarded bidder must bear all conveyance costs, including survey, transfer tax, recording and filing fees.
Councilman Adam Deuyour moved to adopt the resolution and Councilman Frank Snyder seconded; the board approved the measure unanimously (Ayes-4, Nays-0). The parcel was described in the resolution as "no longer needed for municipal purposes" and the assessor provided the market-value estimate used as the minimum starting bid.
If the permissive referendum is not exercised, the board will proceed with the bid award process; the resolution instructs town officials to advertise for sealed bids and to award to the highest responsible bidder furnishing required security.
