Roundup: PZBA recommends zoning text amendment, three special uses, two variances and approves minutes

The Village of Lansing Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals convened on Jan. 28, 2026 and completed four substantive agenda items and routine business.
Business included: approval of the Nov. 19, 2025 minutes (motion by Commissioner Hallow; Benne seconded; vote 9-0); a unanimous (9-0) recommendation to the Village Board to amend Section 56-289(n) of the Zoning Ordinance to remove the one-acre lot-size requirement for automobile sales; a unanimous (9-0) recommendation to approve a special use and parking variance for Best Motor Sports at 2861 Bernice Road (conditions include alley-only deliveries and that all vehicles for sale be stored inside); a unanimous (9-0) recommendation for an electronic reader board special use for Golden Bear Pancake & Crepery at 16851 Torrence Avenue with brightness and motion restrictions and landscaping repairs required; and unanimous (9-0) recommendations for a truck repair special use and a landscaping variance for RVN Development at 3120 170th Street, subject to final engineering, easement resolution and external agency approvals.
Public comment included representatives from the City of Dolton asking about restarting their planning and zoning meetings; Village Attorney Matt Moustis offered to discuss the matter after the meeting. The PZBA adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
