The Jacksonville School District #117 Board of Education approved a comprehensive personnel slate at the June 25 meeting covering resignations, retirements, new hires, summer-intersession assignments and leaves of absence.
Resignations and retirements approved included Braxton Stewart, Principal at South Elementary School, effective June 30, 2025, and retirements such as Mike Prather, custodian, with retirement effective December 2, 2025, and Richard Webb, parent educator, effective December 31, 2025. The board also approved multiple licensed hires with stated salaries and effective dates — for example, Cathy Sheeley as a primary/intermediate teacher at Eisenhower Elementary School for the 2025–2026 school year at MA/Step 6: $56,792, contingent upon required employment documentation.
The action item also authorized a long list of summer-intersession and extended school-year assignments for teachers, paraprofessionals and nurses with hourly rates and maximum hours, and approved stipends for coaching and extra-pay classroom adjustments. Leaves of absence and maternity/paternity leave requests for a range of staff were approved as presented. The motion to approve personnel recommendations was moved by Mrs. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Lonergan and passed unanimously.
