Village trustees approve sewer payments, set Nov. 24 IEPA hearing on water-main upgrades

Trustee Brandon Smith served as chair in President Steve Buss’s absence as the village board convened Nov. 10 and approved a series of project-related payments and scheduling steps.
Village Engineer Brian Nott told trustees that televising work for the 2025 sanitary sewer lining project identified areas needing point repairs and that Pay Application #1 — covering televising — totaled $291,755.03. The board also approved Change Order #2 for $28,158.26; both votes were unanimous. Nott said the village will complete point repairs and then seek reimbursement from responsible contractors after calling JULIE and determining responsibility.
Nott also reported the village submitted a Safe Routes to School application and is reviewing linear footage for IEPA sewer-lining funding. He said potential IEPA-funded water-main upgrades (Oak Street, part of Chestnut and upsizing on Center, Sherman, Grant and Route 73, plus additional tower valves) will be phased and that a public hearing required by IEPA is scheduled for 5:50 p.m. Nov. 24, with a special board meeting at 5:55 p.m. to act on an application. Bridgette Stocks will submit pay requests to the IEPA for reimbursement.
The board approved routine items including the Oct. 13 minutes, bills payable and the October treasurer’s report, and accepted Resolution 25-112 to dispose of obsolete village iPads.
