Evart staff report vac truck repairs, police upgrades and a July 8 DDA event
Summary
City staff reported that vac truck repairs are nearly complete, police installed a flag pole and cameras, and the Downtown Development Authority plans a July 8 Declaration of Independence reading at 6:00 p.m. as part of the 250th anniversary events.

City Clerk Andrea Grupido told the council she "will be attending a Clerk Conference next week." Department of Public Works Director Chad Thompson reported: "The repairs on the Vac Truck should be completed and they will be doing a test run tomorrow, the plan is to pick the truck up next week." Chief of Police John Beam reported a new flag pole and interview-room cameras had been installed and that the department is preparing for Fourth of July events: "A new flag pole was installed at the Police Department along with cameras in the interview room. Preparation for the 4th of July events are underway."
Downtown Development Authority Director Todd Bruggema said he is working with a history teacher, Mr. Johnson, to plan a July 8 event at 6:00 p.m. to read the Declaration of Independence for the 250th anniversary and that the DDA is working on a strategic plan. City Manager Pepper Lockhart reported staff are coordinating blight efforts, scheduling expiring rental-inspection certificate renewals, and that a downtown building is slated for demolition with plans to rebuild.
