Representatives of Lockport SD 91’s parent groups briefed the board on a slate of fall activities and fundraising efforts at the Oct. 14 meeting.
Board member Cutforth, speaking for the D91 Parent Teacher Organization, said the Panda Express fundraiser that night would return 20% to the PTO for orders using the district code. Cutforth also noted that the PTO’s second annual paint night is still seeking volunteer paint guides, next Tuesday will be a student-and-teacher appreciation day, and two PTO board positions will open in the spring. Mrs. Lopez-Caneva, representing the D91 Foundation, said, "This Saturday is a 5K fun run, rain or shine. Registration is still open, and walk-ins are available," and announced that the Dodgeball Tournament will return in partnership with the PAA.
The Parent Athletic Association reported an eight-team season with two teams per grade and flagged upcoming events: Green and Gold Night on Nov. 7 and the third-grade Hornet Hoopla tournament on Nov. 8. Superintendent Dr. Wilkey additionally briefed the board about ongoing conversations with the Lockport Boys Baseball Association on a cost-sharing arrangement for baseball field maintenance in exchange for field use.
The announcements outline community fundraising, volunteer recruitment and seasonal athletic programming; the board did not take formal action on those items at the meeting.
