The Rankin School District #98 honored students and extracurricular successes at its Oct. 27 meeting. Ms. Marj Oesch and members of the Junior High Speech Team were recognized as the Fall 2025 "Rebels in the Spotlight" and said the team's major competition will be at Georgetowne Middle School on Nov. 8, 2025. Named performers included Ruby Andrew, Brynn Williams, Noah Fowler, Jacob Hubert, Anderson Moser, Isla Martin and Mila Gonzalez.
Student Council President Olivia Myers reported multiple recent events, including Halloween Spirit Week and a Pink Out girls' basketball fundraiser that raised $283 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. Principal Nick Beard noted academic honors (42 of 79 junior-high students made the honor roll), three cross‑country athletes advanced to state (all placing in the top 100), and early-season basketball records (7th-grade girls 7–1; 8th-grade girls 6–2). The board also heard about 'Rebel Nation' student section plans and upcoming home and away game schedules.
