Mayor Pete Land swore in Toni Pieczul (Badge #139) at the July 15 Board meeting. Assistant Chief James Janda introduced Pieczul, noting she is a 2022 Crown Point High School graduate and will begin training at the Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy on July 27, 2026. "Please join me in welcoming Officer Toni Pieczul," Janda said during the introduction; Pieczul thanked the board and said she was excited to get started.
The board also recognized Officer Brandon Norris as Employee of the Month for July 2026. Mayor Land highlighted Norris's selection as the Indiana School Resource Officers Association SRO Officer of the Year and his role as the Taft Middle School resource officer. Officer Norris said he "appreciated the recognition" and expressed pride in working with the department and local schools.
These personnel items were processed by the board as presentations and recognitions; no vote was required for the swearing-in and the recognition was ceremonial.
