Rankin Board approves tax-extension estimate; will not schedule Truth in Taxation hearing

At its Oct. 27 meeting the Rankin School District #98 Board of Education voted to adopt a Resolution Estimating Tax Extension and determined not to schedule a Truth in Taxation hearing for the district.
Member Nena Cox moved the resolution and Member Leann Kohl seconded; the motion was recorded as passing on a roll call vote with all members voting "Yea." Superintendent Dr. Matt Gordon earlier told the board that FY26 finances are tracking to the original budget and cautioned that it is still early in the fiscal year.
The board did not announce any immediate changes to tax rates at the meeting; the resolution sets the estimated extension and preserves the board's ability to act later if necessary.
