The Rankin School District #98 Board of Education on Oct. 27 accepted the FY25 audit presented virtually by Cory Cowan of Gorenz and Associates, Ltd., which Cowan described as a "clean" report.
Dr. Matt Gordon told the board the district has a longstanding record of favorable audits but acknowledged small‑district limitations related to segregation of duties. Gordon said steps have been taken to mitigate those limitations, including giving the treasurer access to financial records, and he thanked staff members including Bookkeeper Michelle Gaddy and Treasurer Marilyn Smiser for their work supporting the audit process.
The board approved the audit and the district's Annual Financial Report by roll call vote; the motion was recorded as unanimous "Yea." The board did not attach additional action items to the audit acceptance during the meeting.
