The Rankin School District #98 Board of Education adopted the 2025–26 (FY26) Original Budget at its Sept. 22 meeting after a public hearing and presentation by Superintendent Dr. Matt Gordon. The budget document shows planned larger purchases and a net projection difference of -$249,114 for all funds.
Dr. Matt Gordon told the board the budget had been constructed conservatively, estimating expenses on the high side and revenues on the low side ‘‘deficit spending in the amount -$249,114,’’ and noted that the total includes roughly $100,000 for a math curriculum and $100,000 for a replacement grounded RTU for the 2004 addition. The motion to adopt the FY26 Original Budget passed by roll call vote 5‑0. The board expects to review an Amended Budget next June when projections will be updated.
