District 112 posts top-tier IAR results; Braeside earns Exemplary designation

Dr. Michael Rodrigo, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, presented North Shore SD 112’s results from the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) and the 2025 State Report Card at the Nov. 18 meeting.
Dr. Rodrigo said Braeside received an Exemplary designation while the other district schools were rated Commendable. He explained that the Illinois State Board of Education updated performance-level calculations for 2025, creating a new baseline that cannot be directly compared to prior years for proficiency percentages. For comparative measures, he recommended relying on student growth rates and raw scale scores. Rodrigo reported that District 112 students ranked in the 90th percentile statewide in mathematics, the 88th percentile in English language arts and the 85th percentile in science.
The presentation included an overview of ongoing professional-development initiatives; Rodrigo cited a teacher survey in which 99% of respondents said PD would positively impact their professional and student growth.
