North Shore SD 112 board approves $93.9 million 2025 tax levy

The Board of Education for North Shore SD 112 voted Nov. 18 to approve the district's final 2025 tax levy of $93,881,137, a 4.5% increase over the 2024 levy that includes new property. President Art Kessler called for the resolution after Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Jeremy Davis presented the levy breakdown and rationale.
Davis told the board the increase is recommended to ensure funds are available for Phase 2 construction/renovations and to maintain the district's required 25% fund balance while addressing inflation and rising payroll, benefits and contracted services costs. He estimated the levy would raise a homeowner tax burden by approximately $211 on a $650,000 house. The board approved Resolution 251118a by unanimous roll-call vote; the levy will be filed with the Lake County Clerk by the December deadline.
The Board separately approved Resolution 251118b to abate the property tax levied for 2025 to pay debt service on the District's 2019 general obligation bonds; Mr. Davis said the abatement amount will be approximately $3.9 million. That resolution also passed unanimously.
