Becki King, Charlevoix County Fiscal Officer, briefed commissioners on the State's new Public Safety Revenue Sharing Program and reported that approximately $42,000 in revenue-sharing funds has been distributed to townships where the county provides law enforcement services.
King requested authorization to send a sample letter to villages and townships that do not provide their own law enforcement to explore opportunities for recovering eligible funding. Commissioner Robert Jess moved and Commissioner Joshua Chamberlain seconded the authorization; the board approved the action by roll-call vote 5-0.
