The Morehouse Town Board voted to lock in heating prices with Buell Fuel & Center State after Supervisor Anthony Fernandez presented competing bids on Oct. 8, 2025. Sonya DeVuyst moved to accept Buell’s pricing; Brian Taylor seconded and the motion carried without recorded opposition.
Fernandez told the board he contacted five vendors and said Buell Fuel & Center State "are willing to quote us at fuel oil for $2.94, and propane for $1.54 a gallon. From October 1st to May 1st." He also reported a competing bid from J&R Eldridge of $3.00 per gallon for fuel oil and $1.74 per gallon for propane. The board briefly discussed whether to own heating tanks or borrow them from suppliers before voting to accept Buell’s prices.
The motion to lock the prices was recorded in the minutes; the board did not specify a contract length beyond the quoted Oct. 1–May 1 price window. Further procurement or contracting details were not specified in the meeting record and can be expected in subsequent agenda materials or the Oct. 14 public hearing packet.
