The Morehouse Town Board introduced two local laws at its May 13 meeting. Members voted to introduce Local Law #1 of 2025, the 'Town of Morehouse Unsafe Building Law,' and scheduled a public hearing for June 10, 2025. Supervisor Anthony Fernandez said the law had not yet appeared on the Secretary of State list and that the town clerk will reconcile the town's files with the Secretary of State materials.
The board also introduced Local Law #2 of 2025, which would abolish the offices of elected assessors and establish the office of a sole appointed assessor in accordance with Real Property Tax Law Sections 310 and 328. The board set a June 10 public hearing on the measure and noted that if the law is adopted by the town board, it will be placed before voters in a November referendum.
