Residents praise groomers as Morehouse board flags equipment repairs and staffing needs

Supervisor Anthony Fernandez reported Feb. 11 that the reroute for Route 8 is open, thanked the DOT, landowners and current groomers, and said the town would advertise on its sign and website to recruit part‑time groomers.
Resident Ed Sherman praised the current crew but noted most groomers are seasonal: "The groomers that we have now are great, they are doing a great job. The problem is, is that most of the groomers that we have now are seasonal residents. They get up here to work on and groom the trails when they can." Fernandez said multiple sleds are out of service — the side-by-side is down awaiting a belt, the 900 and 850 are down (the 850 taken for repairs) and drags are aging; he suggested the board consider repairing or replacing equipment.
William Uebele and others agreed to help oversee repairs and future staffing; the board did not take an immediate funding vote but directed staff to research options.
