The Morehouse Town Board on April 8 approved a five-year extension of the lease for the Hoffmeister Post Office at 733 State Route 8. The board agreed the lease will run from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2031, at an annual rent of $6,000 and authorized payment of a 4% commission — $1,200 — to Jones Lang LaSalle Brokerage, Inc.
The motion to amend Resolution 25-3-4 and approve Resolution 25-4-1 was made by Town Board Member William Uebele and seconded by Mary Ann Mosher; the motion carried with recorded ayes and no nays. Town Supervisor Anthony Fernandez presented the item and the signed resolution lists Fernandez and Town Clerk Stephanie Tichenor as authorized to execute the documents on behalf of the town.
Board members said extending the post office lease preserves a local postal access point in the Hoffmeister area. The resolution authorizes the Town Supervisor to execute the contract and to pay the broker commission as part of the lease extension. The board recorded approval in the meeting minutes and the resolution is on file with the town clerk.
