The council approved a request for an out-of-state training trip for Justin Miller of the Picayune Police Department to attend a physical security course in Glencoe, Georgia, Aug. 16–29, 2026. Police leadership said the training focuses on event security and that Miller will return to train and support department planning for city events such as street fairs and parades.
The police chief explained the course is intended to sharpen planning and resource allocation for public events and noted that the training carries no cost to the city: "This will better prepare him and identify things and keep things safer and where we can use our resources most efficient... and it's it's free," the chief said. Council approved the travel by voice vote.
