PERA committee recommends dropping student-growth component from evaluations; board informed

Dr. Matt Gordon said minutes from PERA Committee and SB 7 RIF Committee meetings (both on Aug. 12) reflected a unanimous consensus that the student-growth component should no longer be a required part of the teacher evaluation process. The committee also concluded the student-growth component would be removed from Principal/AD evaluations for the same reasons, while noting that staff intend to continue tracking student growth throughout the year even if it is not a scored component of formal evaluations.
The report was informational; no board action to change district policy or evaluation instruments was recorded at the Aug. 25 meeting.
