City of Hays staff present final plat for 161 First Addition, planning commission recommends approval

Jesse Rohr, Director of Public Works, told the City Commission during the July 16 work session that an application has been submitted for the final plat of the 161 First Addition, a parcel owned by the City of Hays at the northeast corner of the Exit 161 I-70 interchange. The proposed final plat would create two blocks containing a total of 13 lots ranging in size from 1.2 acres to 9.7 acres.
Rohr said staff and the Hays Area Planning Commission recommend approval; the Planning Commission voted 7-0 in favor. He told commissioners that at the July 23, 2026 Commission meeting they will be asked to adopt a resolution accepting the final plat as submitted. No formal vote was taken during the July 16 work session.
The city-owned site adjoins interchange infrastructure and will require coordination on access and utilities as the plat advances to the July 23 agenda. The work session record does not specify proposed uses for the lots or any required off-site improvements; those details will be available with the final plat packet and accompanying resolution when the matter appears for formal consideration.
