Creve Coeur board adopts resolution to put 1% retailers' tax question on November ballot

At its March 10 meeting, the Creve Coeur School District No. 76 Board of Education adopted a resolution directing the Regional Superintendent of Schools for Tazewell County to certify to the county clerk a referendum asking electors to approve a 1% retailers' occupation tax and service occupation tax. The resolution states the revenue would be used exclusively for school facility purposes, school resource officers and mental health professionals and is slated for submission to the Nov. 3, 2026 general election.
The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Mrs. Bailey and seconded by Mrs. Keogel. The roll-call vote recorded unanimous approval: Keogel, Ragon, Stimeling, Greiner and Bailey voted yes; no nays were recorded. The board did not receive objections from the audience during the meeting on this item.
If approved by county electors, the tax would provide a local revenue source restricted to the three objectives spelled out in the resolution; the board scheduled no further local action on implementation at this meeting.
