John, the county’s IT staff, told the board the information-technology office logged 621 support tickets for the month and that “the intrusion report, everything looks good.” He said one unusually large Freedom of Information Act request required extensive work: “It took about 70 hours of my time to get done, and then my staff had to re had to do double checks this week.”
John warned that FOIA requests to the county office often require compiling records across departments and so can represent a single ticket with disproportionate labor costs. He noted the office is the keeper of records and therefore receives broader document sets when requests are filed against the county rather than a single department. The board had no questions and later moved to accept the IT report.
John also flagged software-cost planning for the department — discussed separately — as a way to reduce recurring administrative burden. The chair moved to accept the report and the motion passed.
