Board reviews finances; approves obligation for dedicated Elko dispatch server

Finance staff presented a fee and surcharge report showing total surcharges to date just above $4,000,000 and donations of about $200,000. For fiscal year 25–26, the board recorded roughly $671,000 in surcharges (with one month still to post) and noted expenditures just over $1,000,000; cash on hand was reported at about $1,775,337.
Staff said the board has obligated funds for a dedicated server for Elko dispatch, with $500,000 in year one and $100,000 in years two through five to cover sustainment and managed services; thereafter sustainment costs are expected to be roughly $100,000 annually charged to the E911 fund. Lee Cabness said the server will allow the county to host local data rather than depend on the state server and will include managed services with 24-hour support. A pending Motorola invoice of approximately $500,000 will reduce cash on hand when paid.
