The district's treasurer reported the board finished the recent fiscal year in better shape than anticipated, saying, "We came out $9,000," despite earlier budget projections that had shown a near-$500,000 deficit.
The financial statement showed approximately $600,000 on hand. With board approval, $300,000 was moved into Raymond James to be held in laddered certificates of deposit that will mature in $100,000 increments every two months; the treasurer described that as a liquidity and yield strategy. The board also approved outstanding payments totaling $34,784.07, including bills to City of Elko ($4,000), Premier Wireless ($16,922.68) and Eagle Communications ($5,974.92).
