County Manager Thomas Weaver informed the commission at its March 3 meeting that the county's arrangement with an IGSA stray facility will end because the facility could not meet the county's requirement for veterinary care and euthanasia services.
Weaver stated, "our last day with the stray facility will still be on May 9th." He said county staff and the operator negotiated but could not reach terms that satisfied the county's needs. The manager told commissioners staff will continue searching for alternatives to maintain animal‑control services after that date.
Commissioners did not take additional action at the March 3 meeting beyond receiving the update; staff will return with options and any fiscal impacts for commission consideration.
