Commission moves to revise cemetery rules, consider demolition of courthouse-adjacent structures

County Manager Thomas Weaver reviewed proposed cemetery rules and resolutions and recommended changes including allowing citizens to purchase more than one plot in certain circumstances, permitting a purchase for a spouse, and adding a one-time plot purchase fee of $500. Commissioners approved adding the cemetery rules and regulations resolutions to the agenda as voting items to be considered at a future meeting.
Weaver also said buildings across from the courthouse must be declared surplus before the county can demolish them; commissioners agreed to add a declaration of surplus property for those structures to a future agenda. The matter was discussed in the Jan. 26 work session and will return for formal action.
