The Council approved Resolution No. 2026-10 on July 21 to amend the FY26 budget to account for unanticipated expenditures, specifically $6,842.27 for Fire Department air-conditioner repairs.
Clerk/Treasurer Strecker said she identified the shortfall while reconciling budgets and explained that the department had only $172 remaining in its line items; she proposed using extra sales-tax revenue as unanticipated revenue to cover the repair bills. "The department had air conditioner repairs that were not budgeted in FY26, so the budget adjustment is for that specific repair amount," Strecker said. The Council voted to approve the budget amendment unanimously. Staff indicated the amendment follows discussion with the city auditor and city attorney about the correct accounting treatment for unanticipated revenues and expenditures.
The amendment allows the pending fire-department repair invoices to be paid from the adjusted budget. No additional contingencies or long-term operational changes were recorded during the meeting.
