Elko County staff described several past and ongoing projects that used CDBG funding, noting the variety of planning and construction work supported by the program. "Our most recent one that we were awarded this last year is a Tuscarora water storage tank replacement," Sienna Stearman said, and she added that earlier awards included engineering phases for Tuscarora water and Montello exploratory well preliminary engineering reports.
Stearman also cited pandemic-era projects funded through CDBG special allocations that included work with Nevada Health Centers, the Boys and Girls Club, and Northern Nevada Head Start, and she noted Mountain City wastewater engineering and a completed water line extension project. She reminded listeners that planning grants and construction grants carry different performance deadlines (planning grants expire June 30, 2028; construction grants generally expire June 30, 2029).
County staff framed the examples to show the range of eligible activity and to remind prospective applicants that engineering and environmental review steps are generally required prior to construction funding.
