Steve Simpson, CEO, and Becky Jones, chief nursing officer, presented the hospital’s latest quality scorecard and service updates to the Board of Health. Jones said the hospital achieved a three‑star rating from CMS for the first time in her 30‑year tenure and described improvements in sepsis care in March–May. She cited a drop in ‘left without treatment’ emergency visits toward the target of about 1–2% and said average hospital length of stay remains under three days despite caring for higher‑acuity patients.
Simpson described equipment and service investments: a new GE ARTIS EVO MRI that reduces radiation exposure and expands imaging capability; a da Vinci robotic surgery system with three patients scheduled for July 22 and a public "meet the robot" event on July 23; and staffing additions including a new PA (Spencer Snow) expected Sept. 1. The hospital also reported more than 200 patients treated in its behavioral-health unit since an opening day on Sept. 5 and plans to open an intensive outpatient program.
Board members praised the clinical teams and discussed collaboration with county first‑responder mental‑health programs.
