EVART, Mich. — The City of Evart’s Director of Public Works, Chad Thompson, told the May 18 work session that the municipal vac truck — purchased in 2019 and heavily used during construction — requires a full service and repairs. Thompson said the estimate received from JDC to repair the vac truck is $10,000 and that the work should be completed now to avoid higher costs later. The meeting record says the funds would come from the city’s sewer funds.
Thompson also called for establishing a regular preventative-maintenance schedule for the vac truck, and noted staff had obtained rental-rate quotes to illustrate the operational cost of not repairing the truck: $1,500 per day, $4,500 per week and $13,500 per month.
