Commission pledges $6,000 to regional 'Run for It' fundraiser to support local nonprofits

Angie Pase, development director for the Tucker Community Foundation, and David Cooper, the foundation’s CEO, asked the Commission for a $6,000 pledge to support the Run for It campaign, an annual fundraiser that supports nonprofit programs across the Foundation’s 10-county service area.
Pase said the foundation distributed $6,000 to Randolph County organizations in 2025 and that Run for It has generated more than $3.6 million since 2007 and returned $595,290 to Randolph County organizations since the program began. She said 19 teams from Randolph County participated in 2025, totaling 236 runners and walkers, and that the 2026 campaign will kick off on April 1 with the race scheduled for Sept. 26 in Davis, W.Va. Commissioner Chris See moved to approve a $6,000 pledge to be funded from Hotel/Motel Tax; the motion passed unanimously.
Organizers guaranteed that pledged funds will be distributed to Randolph County organizations and described the program as a driver of community participation and local fundraising.
