Committee recommends emergency consideration for Nashville Acres LLC annexation at 2674 Swales Road

The Community and Economic Development Committee voted unanimously Monday to recommend emergency consideration for the annexation of property identified as Nashville Acres LLC at 2674 Swales Road.

"We are meeting tonight to provide a recommendation to council regarding the annexation for 162 and 7200 acres more or less from Concord Township, the Nashville Acres LLC annexation at 2674 Swales Road," Chair Lynn Snead said as she opened the meeting. Snead identified council members Madison Hickman and Bill Twist as members of the committee.

Mister Titterington told the committee the petition "has been filed as a type 2 expedited, annexation petition," and asked that the committee treat the ordinances as emergency items because Type 2 timelines are compressed. He said property owners are unanimous in favor of the annexation and that approving the committee recommendation would bring three declarations and three pieces of legislation to the council for the Aug. 17 meeting.

Titterington also said the city would be expected to accept buffering responsibilities "if they're incompatible uses," a requirement he described as being mandated by law though staff does not anticipate incompatibility.

The committee did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript; Chair Snead summarized the vote as unanimous and said the ordinances would appear before full council on Aug. 17 if the committee's recommendation is accepted.

The committee adjourned after taking the recommendation; no further public testimony or separate motions were recorded.
